Āmalakī consists of the dried mature fruits of Emblica officinalis Gaertn.
Syn. Phyllanthus emblica Linn. (Fam. Euphorbiaceae); a small to medium-sized deciduous tree widely distributed throughout India, found growing naturally in forests and also cultivated in orchards, gardens, and agricultural fields. The fruits are generally harvested during the winter season after ripening and are carefully dried and processed into powder. Amla is highly valued in traditional herbal systems and is known for its naturally occurring vitamin C, antioxidants, and nutritional benefits.
